In alignment with the African Union’s directive for Member States to allocate at least 1% of their annual budgets to cultural development by 2030, Selam, a Pan-African organization, through its Connect for Culture Africa (CfCA) initiative and in collaboration with the African Union, commissioned this study. The study aims to provide valuable insights into the current state of public investment in the culture sector in Mainland Tanzania and to identify key stakeholders within the culture sector to enhance lobbying efforts for public investment in the culture sector and to promote and develop the culture and creative industry sector within the AU member states. One key objective of the initiative is to lobby for increased public funding in the culture sector from government sources.
